Gary this is not even near the water !! Can`t u see the damn rocks ? My guess is that there are lots of rocks rolling downhill.

A very logical way to build if you live in flood plane or very close to sea level. Nothing really unusual about it. My cousins in Florida live in a similar house near a small river that rises from time-to-time.
