For those who are interested, Tianmenshan is in Hunan Province, central China, and has the longest cableway in the world with a distance of 7455 meters and an altitude climb of 1279 meters completed in full operation in 2005.
The other way to reach the top: drive up Tongtian Rd ('Road toward Heaven'), which has 99 turns, also completed in 2005. Then you take the 999-step Heaven Ladder (known as 'Tianti' in Chinese) to reach this natural hole you see above. I'll try to upload a few pics of the cableway, Tongtian Rd and Tianti in this website later for you folks viewing enjoyment.
