I'm not talking about 2, 3 or 20 pictures taken from FunPic and cutting the url from the pictures... there are sites ripping all the pictures every day, day by day. Now it's not so simple, they can't just crop the picture, they have to work on it. Good luck on that. And no, jamesrau, posting a pic on a site DOES NOT mean it becomes "public domain". It still has a copyright of the owner and he/she can sue the site ripping his/her picture.
Bungle, That's not what I'm saying. I realize that it DOES NOT become 'public domain'. I'm actually agreeing with you. What I am trying to say is that you (or the owner of the picture) could place all the copyright notices and "do not distribute" notices on the picture you want and it would still be pirated. As for removing the FunPic URL, that's easily done. There are numerous graphics programs out there that have "unmasking" capabilities. It would take me less than an hour to remove the URL. Under U.S. Law, if an owner wants to sue for copyright infringement, then the orignal work must be marked with a copyright notice, i.e. "Copyright (C) 2006 James Smith". Placing your URL on the picture does not afford any copyright protection whatsoever.
Bungle, From your response I can see that you're very frustrated by this. As a published author, I share your concern over copyrighted material. Perhaps I did speak (or post) out of turn. However, it's like farting during a hurricane. You have what is essentially a "public" image board, and once something's posted to the Internet, it simply becomes "public domain". Terms like "fair use' and 'copyright simply have no meaning. Sorry, but I can offer no solutions.
Cool pic, have to agree with jamesrau, by all means stick funpic in the corner of the photo... not in the middle tho', do you really care if someone else puts a pic of a dog looking at some ducks in a bath on another site? I sometimes submit the same pics to 2 or 3 different sites, just to get different points of view from different types pf people, I know alot of sites lay claim to any pictures once they are submitted and stick their web address on them, but at the end of the day... it is public domain, and my little girl likes to keep the cute pics in a file on our pc. By the way, you have one of the best sites of it's type imho Bungle, keep up the good work and keep the url on the edge of the pics please... cheers.
Hey FunPic, did you absolutely have to place your URL right smack-dab in the middle of this picture? :-/
Yes, because I'm tired of the fucking websites ripping our pictures and cutting the url from the bottom of the pic.
I wonder how can people get the right time and THE RIGHT MOMENT to obtain THIS CUTE FUNPIC!. Excellent - !
ok guys one more lap and then it's my turn....
