I guarantee the other end of the red extension chord is not plugged in. The side of the pool is wet, from the bald guy crunching the pool, so the whole thing is grounded. I'm not an electrician, but can figure this out. No way three people are stupid enough to get in if the red plug is connected.
If you go out from the pool, and one leg touch to the ground you have get any big electrical shock. (Sorry for my bad english.) I am electrician engeneer in National Elektricity Company from 15 years.
You are right about the porcelin! But it is the metal drain that would be your ground in that case. I'm not saying that this picture could be real but I will say that I have replaced underwater swimming pool lights (with the power off) but only to find that the fixture was completely exposed to the pool water. Does anyone else have any ideas about this. I'm stumped
Correct, the drain is usually the contact to ground (metal drain, metal pipe directly to the earth). I have taken OSHA safety classes where this was demonstrated, putting two wires into an isolated fish tub of water with a high current applied. You put your hand in the water and as long as you are standing on an insulated surface (rubber pad in my case) nothing happened. This appears to be an inflatable outdoor pool that probably does not have a drain (just deflate the sides and it will drain or pull the stopper in the side somewhere). I don't know if this is a true photo or not, but it could be plausible. The main problem I see is where the guy is leaning on the side. Water pouring over the side and touching the ground would work as a conduit for the electricity and could "short circuit" the whole deal (sorry for the pun).
anch, you said "As long as they don't touch anything that will connect them to ground, they will be fine"... yet, porcelin does not conduct electricity, but if you do the same thing in a bathtub it can kill you.... so... where is your logic? if you know something I do not, please pm.
